| Michael Veerasingham is based in the rolling foothills at the heart of the Basque Country, Euskual Herria, which straddles South West France and Northern Spain. Conveniently situated in the rolling hills between the Pyrenees mountains and the Atlantic ocean, within close proximity of the low lying Landes and the wide meandering rivers of the Bearn he has easy access to a variety of superb expansive land and waterscapes. A stones throw from the fortified towns of Sauveterre, Navarrenx and Saint Jean Pied de Port as well as the Basque coastline which brings to mind the world renowned resort of Biarritz and the picturesque coastal harbour towns of Hendaye, Anglet, Bayonne, Bidart, Saint Jean de Luz and Socoa. Throw in small villages and the architectural differences between the Basque Country and the Bearn and this provides endless opportunities to photograph the natural environment and man's interaction with it. The sheer range of fabulous locations dotted throughout the three provinces of the Northern Basque Country and away from the main tourist tracks is a treat for any photographer. As well as regularly exhibiting his work, selling high quality archival, fine art landscape photography prints (also available from this site) and working on commissions, he now runs select landscape photography workshops & holidays for small groups (maximum FOUR people) in France. These tours are open to all and as he is located away from the main tourist tracks are a great opportunity to get away from it all, immerse yourself in the world of landscape photography and gently ease into the Basque way of life. |
